Beginning Thursday, Nov. 8, Skype for Business “dial-in conferencing” will be available to all of Michigan Medicine as the organization’s primary business communication tool for audio/video conferencing.
This feature will enable users to set up or join an online conference directly through their Outlook calendars. Additional contact, support and PIN information will be included in meeting invites so that users can invite attendees from outside Michigan Medicine to participate.
Simply select the “New Skype Meeting” icon from the Outlook calendar toolbar to begin.
- Confirm that Skype for Business is installed. If not, see these instructions for installing on a Mac.
- Select the ”Meeting” icon within your Outlook calendar. The “Skype Meeting” icon will then appear in the toolbar of the invitation to complete your videoconference request.
All users (except HITS staff):
If you have already scheduled Skype for Business meetings occurring after Nov. 8, or have recurring meetings after this date, these invitations won’t show the additional contact and support options rolled out on Thursday. There will be no loss of functionality; however, if you wish to see these additional details, you will need to recreate the meetings in your calendar.
