University selects Dell as a strategic supplier of computer hardware

Michigan Medicine recently joined partners from the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses to sign a multi-year contract with Dell Technologies – which as of January 18 will become a strategic supplier of computer hardware to the university.

Dell’s selection followed an extensive evaluation process conducted by a team from units that collectively represent nearly 90 percent of the U-M’s computer hardware purchases, and which was focused on meeting the institution’s diverse education, research, and patient-care needs.

In addition to significant annual cost savings, the new contract is expected to provide a wider selection, and enhanced service.

New Dell models will become available for Michigan Medicine units to order in late January or early February. As always, requests for new computer equipment should be submitted via the HITS online Help Center

“All of us in HITS remain committed to providing the highest quality equipment, services, and support, as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible,” said Andrew Rosenberg, M.D., Michigan Medicine Chief Information Officer. “I consider this new partnership with Dell an important step forward in that regard, and I hope everyone will join me in welcoming this significant achievement.”
