Zebra power cord replacement update

09/10/2019

Some Zebra printers are equipped with faulty power cords (supplies) which may be a fire hazard. This is an issue specifically with the power cords and not the actual Zebra devices. We understand this poses a significant safety risk and HITS support teams have been mobilized to identify and replace the faulty power cords.  Once a power cord has been verified as “safe”, a green “dot” will be placed on the device for quick visualization identifying the device is safe to resume normal usage.

Update as of 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12:

Facility Completion Rates & Scheduling:

  • C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital (C&W) - 100% complete.
  • University Hospital (UH) – 100% complete.
  • Med Campus – 100% complete.
  • Remote Sites – 100% complete.

 Important Reminders:

  • Once a device is safe for regular use, a green “dot” sticker is placed on the front of the device.  DO NOT tamper or remove this green “dot” sticker from devices. This is used for auditing purposes to let the fire marshal & HITS staff know that the device has been inspected and is safe for normal use.
  • When plugging in a device, please ensure it is powered “off” prior to connecting to power source/outlet.
  • Devices do not need to be unplugged between use once they have a green “dot”.
  • If a Zebra printer device does NOT have a green “dot” sticker, please:
    • Unplug the device when not in use or when it is unattended AND
    • Call x.68000 to open a ticket for HITS to verify the device is safe for normal usage
