Michigan Medicine Human Resources, Organizational Learning, and HITS are partnering with Cornerstone to establish a comprehensive Talent Management platform to serve all of Michigan Medicine. The first major step is replacing MLearning – the system we've long used to manage and deliver required and optional learning opportunities – with Cornerstone Learning, coming early this November.

Hello, Cornerstone Learning!

The new system will offer many advantages over the current one, including:

  • A more modern, user-friendly interface that features improved search and easier navigation.
  • Greater reliability and flexibility: The cloud-based system will regularly receive updates and enhancements. Content will be available anywhere, anytime.
  • The integration of additional types of learning resources (including LinkedIn Learning) into a single, convenient hub.

Cornerstone Learning Key Features:

Cornerstone Learning offers many new features that will make it easier than ever for both individuals and their managers to find and access learning resources, and track progress toward their goals!

Every Cornerstone Learning user will have a personalized transcript to help them to manage their training progress. The transcript displays the status of each activity, indicating if training is pending, approved, or completed. Depending on the status, users can register, launch, and perform a variety of other training functions directly from the transcript.

LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning content will be searchable and accessible within Cornerstone Learning. Users can launch LinkedIn Learning from either the Cornerstone or their LinkedIn portal and have their progress tracked on their Cornerstone Learning transcripts.

Events Calendar

Curricula comprise multiple learning activities that are part of a single program, and can include tests, external courses, online learning, instructor-led training, postings, evaluations and more – to allow for a blended learning experience. Once assigned, curricula can be managed within each users' transcript.

Reporting Dashboards

This enables individual learners to configure their personal dashboard so that they can quickly view the information that is most important to them.

It also provides managers with a quick, graphical view of information needed for investigative, compliance, and other process-improvement purposes.

Additional Talent Management Capabilities Coming Soon

Cornerstone Learning is just the first step in implementing a comprehensive, cloud-based Talent Management Platform, including Cornerstone Performance Management, Cornerstone Careers, and more.

As each new module is added, the plan is to develop and maintain a unified, comprehensive set of content and tools that’s capable of supporting the incredibly diverse (and often unique) needs of Michigan Medicine’s more than 30,000 faculty, staff, and students.

What is Talent Management?

Talent Management refers to a coordinated set of activities that nurture employees to reach their full potential – including onboarding and orientation, learning, personal skills and growth, professional development, performance management, succession planning, and more.
