MiChart Anesthesia

In March 2023, the MiChart Anesthesia application will replace GE Centricity.

Fully integrating the Anesthesia & Perfusion departments into MiChart will benefit Michigan Medicine by:

  • Enabling quicker access to anesthesia and perfusion records
  • Be a single source for medication administration, handoffs, pain blocks and billing - to name a few
  • Coordinated, efficient, and safer care in one integrated electronic medical record
  • Reduction of duplicate documentation between two disparate systems

Timeline: MiChart Anesthesia will go live on March 12 in alignment with the Spring MiChart upgrade

Training for MiChart Anesthesia is now available in Cornerstone for all anesthesia providers (faculty, residents, fellows, and CRNAs), perfusionists, COBANs, and anesthesia technicians.

Shadow Charting

The two months before go-live, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and COBANs will engage in Shadow Charting, a readiness activity in which they recreate a Centricity case in a MiChart non-production environment.

  • Shadow Charting helps end users feel more confident at go-live, and serves as an extra round of testing.
  • If you think you’re supposed to be Shadow Charting but don’t know how to get started, contact Merry Lanzen.
