Upgrading to Windows 10

Time is running out ...

  • All remaining Core PC Windows 7 devices must be upgraded to Windows 10 by October 31, 2019.
  • After this date, Core PC devices still relying on Windows 7 will no longer be able to access privileged Michigan Medicine networks/resources – such as email, shared storage (“H”-drives), UMHS-8021X wifi, etc.
  • This action is required to protect the Michigan Medicine computing environment, and to safeguard the privacy and safety of our patients and staff.

Benefits of upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10

  • Faster, in terms of start-up and general usage.

  • Improved usability, combines the best of the traditional Start button with the newer “tile” layout – including additional touch-screen and tablet functionality.

  • For users with older laptops that do not support Windows 10, newer replacement models are available. Please contact HITS to learn how to obtain a supported device.
