Room Technology and Audiovisual Services (AV)

Find support for audiovisual technology/AV and reserve rooms across Michigan Medicine.

I need immediate support.

Immediate Assistance is a technology support service in select rooms to better serve the medical education community, available on weekdays from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. IT professionals provide in-person support to troubleshoot technology connections, devices, and audio/visual equipment issues. We aim to minimize IT disruptions to learning and events in highly utilized medical school spaces. Learn more about this service.

I'd like to request room tech support for a future event.

HITS and our external AV partner, City Events Group, offer scheduled event support for hospital and medical school events. Generally, the HITS Classroom Technology Services team supports designated spaces during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8-5pm. City Events Group provides additional capacity for weekend and evening events, and in many hospital spaces.

Request support for all events in the Help Center with as much advance notice as possible. Please provide at least two days' notice for events during business hours, and 7 days' notice for evening or weekend events.

I want to record my event, lecture, meeting, etc.

Lecture capture support is available on a case by case basis. Recordings are scheduled and managed by the HITS Classroom Technology Services.  Please submit a request for event support + lecture capture at least 2 days in advance of the lecture recording to coordinate setup.

In-classroom lecture capture is available in the following rooms:

  • Med Sci I 3330, 5330

  • Med Sci 2 3695 NLH, 3697 WLH, 3699 SLH

  • Taubman Health Sciences Library 2901, 2903

I'd like to report an issue with room technology

If you notice broken or faulty equipment in a room or lecture hall within the medical school, please let us know by submitting a ticket through the Michigan Medicine Help Center. We’ll work to respond to your request within one business day.

If a room needs cleaning or has a non-technology issue, please report it to Medical School Facilities: (734)-647-2788.

Training, documentation, and guides.

Audiovisual training and troubleshooting guide

  • Training sessions. Simply specify the room locations and date(s) you are available. We require at least five business days prior to your event.
  • Watch short how-to videos for a refresh on using room technology.
  • Access help articles on a variety of room technology topics.

How do I connect to WiFi?

If you are part of UM

  • Use your UMICH level-1 login to access the eduroam network across Michigan Medicine, or the MWireless-UMHS network in certain medical school and administrative buildings.

  • On a mobile device (phone or tablet), you can also use your Michigan Medicine level-2 login to access the UMHS-8021x network. Requires enrollment in the Mobile Device Management system prior to connecting.

If you are visiting UM

  • If you do not have a UMICH level-1 or Michigan Medicine level-2 account, log in to the MGuest-UMHS network. Or, if your home institution is a part of eduroam, login to the eduroam network using your credentials.

I'd like to reserve a room.

We offer a variety of rooms that can be reserved for studying or small group work. To reserve a room and learn about available equipment, visit Schedulon using your Michigan Medicine (level-2) credentials. For first time users, go to the Michigan Medicine Help Center to request a Schedulon account.

In addition we offer hybrid-ready spaces which contain audio and video technology that allows users to see, hear, and interact with those in the classroom and those joining remotely.

How do I update or upgrade room audiovisual (AV) technology?

  1. Consultation: We will learn about your vision for the use of audiovisual equipment while visiting your collaboration space(s) and provide an estimate for budgetary purposes. Here is a link to our Room Standards Document.
  2. Design and Procurement: We will assess and survey the physical environment, design an audiovisual solution, and order the equipment.
  3. Installation and Training: Once we confirm the room is ready, HITS will partner with professional audiovisual Integrators. We may also deliver, install, and validate the equipment. We can also help train staff and faculty to use the system.
  4. Ongoing Support: HITS will help to keep your system safe and online during its seven-year lifecycle.
