Andrew Rosenberg, MD was named the Healthcare CIO of the Year by MichiganCIO.

The CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards honor chief information officers who demonstrate excellence in technology leadership. Winners are selected by an independent peer-review process based on leadership effectiveness, the business value created by technology innovation, and engagement in industry and community endeavors.

“Given that I was nominated by my peers, I am particularly honored to receive this award,” Rosenberg said. “I am thankful for the dedication, resilience, and grace of our Michigan Medicine IT staff. They support the organization’s productivity, collaboration, accessibility, security, and customer satisfaction — efforts that were especially evident in the demands brought on by the pandemic and our shift to Flexible First work throughout the organization.”

Rosenberg, a practicing critical care anesthesiologist and U-M Medical School faculty member, was named the first Michigan Medicine CIO. He led the formation of Health Information Technology & Services to support the academic and clinical missions of Michigan Medicine. In addition to the ORBIE award, Rosenberg was also included in the 2021 Becker’s Hospital Review “100 hospital and health system CIOs to know” list, an honor he has received four years consecutively.

“Technology, information services, and data play an increasingly vital role in solving many of the largest challenges in health care,” Rosenberg said. “These accolades are an acknowledgment of the leading work Michigan Medicine IT is doing to advance and support innovative technology solutions that are secure, reliable, interoperable, and cost-effective across our diverse academic and health care efforts.”
