The next MiChart upgrade is planned for Saturday, June 13. The June upgrade, rescheduled from April, is the first planned upgrade for 2020 with a goal to reduce downtime duration and impact to the organization.
The upgrade will include updates, system maintenance and new features to the MiChart application. The newest upgrade will enable some changes and enhancements, including:
- Improved order search features to boost frequent searches and account for typos
- A new layout in the inpatient Care Plan to review and manage the plan, document progress and resolve the plan, and write the care plan note
- Increased operation of the LDA Avatar assessment and display
- LOS (level of service) activity moves to the Visit Taskbar from the Wrap Up tab to be easily available to enter and display at any time during the visit
Upgrade training materials available
Training materials for the June upgrade of MiChart, Michigan Medicine’s Electronic Health Record, are now available.
To prepare for these enhancements, prepared training materials for all MiChart users can be reviewed before changes go into effect. For the June upgrade, eLearning modules are assigned to Inpatient Nursing, Allied Health, and Revenue Cycle users.
Users assigned in MLearning are encouraged to complete the eLearning modules to ensure that we have a seamless upgrade and go-live on June 13, 2020. MiChart users who have attended user experience labs or spent time in the practice environment are still encouraged to take the eLearning to see additional features. All content is available for review on MiChart Upgrade Training Resources website. The content is organized by role and contains slides of relevant changes, with links to tip sheets and/or videos where applicable.
If you previously completed the assigned eLearning and would like to review the content, you can access the module under Completed Activities from the MLearning menu.
Practice Environment
A practice environment featuring the changes coming in the June MiChart upgrade is available to all MiChart users through Virtual Places. This will provide users a chance to experience the upgrade changes prior to the go live on June 13.
Select the Epic MiChart Upgrade Practice Environment icon to log in. Detailed instructions for accessing the practice environment, including login and patient information, can be found on the Practice Environment webpage. For nurses, we suggest watching the Care Plan “It’s Possible” video before beginning your session in the Upgrade Practice Environment.
