Starting Tuesday, February 13, Microsoft Teams users will be prompted to upgrade to the latest version. While users may notice only modest changes to the overall look-and-feel, the new Teams experience offers some significant benefits:

Faster and more efficient – ability to switch between apps, respond to chat messages, and join meetings/calls more quickly, and while using less memory and (on laptops and mobile devices) less battery.

Simpler and more streamlined – offers significant improvements in meeting/call quality and stability; less clutter for notifications, search, and messages.

New features – including a new “Meet” app that consolidates everything related to all your Teams meetings (notes, files, recordings) in a single, easy-to-scan page.

Once new Teams is available, you may see a prompt asking you to download and install the update. Once that’s complete, you should see a toggle at the top of your existing (classic) Teams window, offering the option to begin using the new Teams experience. Please note that anyone still using the classic version will be upgraded automatically on March 31.

Please note: Following your upgrade, your preferred Teams/channels will revert to the “grid” view. If you wish to see them in “list” view, just go to Preferences (by clicking on the three dots at upper-right of the Teams window) and click on “Appearance and accessibility” then “Layout.”
