Web browser security update may affect some applications

03/29/2020

Most web browsers used by Michigan Medicine will be updating their security to fix vulnerabilities. Please contact your IT Service Provider if you experience any issues with applications that use these browsers.

Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla plan to disable Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol versions 1.0 and 1.1 this month because of associated security vulnerabilities. A TLS is a function that provides end-to-end communications security over networks and is widely used for internet communications and online transactions.

This change will affect some of Michigan Medicine’s most utilized web browsers (e.g., Google Chrome and Internet Explorer) by blocking applications using TLS 1.0 and 1.1. If you experience an issue with a web application, please contact your IT Service Provider.

Read here for more information on TLSs.
