What do I need to do?

1.) If you use an UNLICENSED version or use an application that leverages an unlicensed version:

  • For CoreImage Windows Workstations: Removal of unlicensed software will happen automatically after September 1.
  • For managed servers: Application Groups must remove any unlicensed Java SE components from servers before September 1.

Java-dependent applications will stop working on/after September 1, 2024.

2.) If you use a LICENSED version of Java or use an application that leverages a licensed version:

Please submit documentation/attestation via this THIS FORM, so you can be added to the removal exclusion list. Please DO NOT contact Oracle directly.

In some cases, you may need to contact your application vendor to confirm that your Java instance is licensed. Here is some language you can use or adapt for this purpose:

Michigan Medicine is inventorying all supplemental software used by vendor applications. We have been notified that <insert application name here> uses and includes one or multiple Java SE components, specifically Java Runtime Environment, Java Development Kit and Java WebStart, as a part of its install package.

Please confirm that <insert vendor name here> owns a license for any or all of the above Java SE components before September 1, 2024.
