Spring MiChart upgrade a success!
The latest system upgrade for MiChart, Michigan Medicine's electronic health record, was successfully completed at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 18.
MiChart upgrade coming this Sunday, April 18
This Sunday, April 18, is the next upgrade for MiChart, the electronic health system for Michigan Medicine.
NOTICE: IRS warns of tax-refund phishing targeting universities
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is warning of an ongoing IRS-impersonation scam that appears to primarily target educational institutions. Scammers are sending phishing emails to students, faculty, staff and others who have email addresses ending in .edu.

Edge Chromium Browser Being Added as Option on CoreImage Windows Computers
Now through March 23, HITS will begin installing Microsoft’s Edge Chromium web browser on CoreImage Windows computers.

To be more responsive to the unique needs of researchers, HITS is launching the Academic IT Core.
ALERT! Firewall change restricting external email delivery
This information was sent to HITS staff via email February 3, 2021. It is intended for HITS staff who are responsible for applications or servers sending external email which have NOT been configured with a HITS email relay server.
ALERT: Update for buffer overflow in sudo
This information was sent to U-M IT staff groups via email January 27, 2021. It is intended for U-M IT staff who are responsible for university computers and servers running Unix-like operating systems that include the sudo utility.
Spring MiChart system upgrade coming April 18
The next MiChart upgrade is planned for Sunday, April 18. This will be the first planned upgrade for 2021 with a goal to reduce downtime duration and impact to the organization.
University selects Dell as a strategic supplier of computer hardware
Michigan Medicine recently joined partners from the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses to sign a multi-year contract with Dell Technologies – which as of January 18 will become a strategic supplier of computer hardware to the university.
Fluency Direct to replace Dragon and Phone Transcription this month
Beginning this month, Michigan Medicine will launch a speech recognition technology called Fluency Direct. Michigan Medicine is retiring Dragon services effective Feb. 3 and Phone Transcription services effective Feb. 15.
Zoom unavailable from 1/2 at 11 pm through 1/3 at 6 am as Zoom for Health is consolidated into regular U-M Zoom.
Zoom for Health at U-M will be consolidated into regular U-M Zoom. Zoom for Health users’ accounts will be migrated into regular U-M Zoom beginning Saturday, January 2 at 11 pm and ending January 3 at 6 am. Your Zoom account will not be available during this time.
ALERT: Update WordPress Contact Form 7 plugin before 12/30

GREAT NEWS: Changes coming in 2021 to Zoom for Health
U-M Zoom has been approved for PHI (HIPAA data). As a result, Zoom for Health at U-M will be consolidated into regular U-M Zoom on January 2 and 3, 2021.

U-M planning to retire BlueJeans videoconferencing May 1
The University of Michigan will retire the BlueJeans videoconferencing platform across all of its campuses by May, as BlueJeans has experienced a significant falloff in use that corresponds with growth of the Zoom platform.

Michigan Medicine SharePoint upgrade: Learning opportunities, development freeze, community of practice
Michigan Medicine is upgrading its existing Microsoft SharePoint 2016 environment to SharePoint Online, a cloud-based service that will provide new opportunities for teams to share and manage content, knowledge and applications. Pilots and testing are happening now, and HITS plans to introduce SharePoint Online across all of Michigan Medicine beginning in early 2021.
CoreMac v2 users: Do not upgrade to macOS Big Sur
Last week, Apple announced the release of a new operating system, macOS Big Sur (version 11.0), at a press event. Please do not install macOS Big Sur on your Michigan Medicine CoreMac v2 at this time. A known incompatibility may render your Mac unusable if you upgrade.
